We are living in arena of information technology and we want and even getting used to get everything on our fingertips from pizza to gadgets and now banks have realized our requirements and needs. They have created an infrastructure which prompt us to be online more rather than visiting branches for normal tasks. They expect us to visit their branches for some very specific kind of jobs and to prevent this they have made our banking world more user friendly, proactive and available online via computer or mobile.

Yes we can fulfill today our general banking needs using our phone or computer, just we need to connect thorough internet. It is far simple, faster and with lots of options, which were not available earlier through branch banking, as there were personals, which were busy in handling number of customers. In online banking we can enjoy the facilities like privilege customers and very fast services most of the time and any time also. We do not need to wait for the open time of the branch; just we need to get the time to turn on our laptop of PC.

But like any facility or service, it also has its own pros and cons. Like any money safe if we are not cautious, we could lose our money in wrong hands. Here I would like to share some simple tips with you.
  • ·         Create a strong password and remember this, rather than writing on a paper. Strong password would consist of alphanumeric characters and symbols. Example: $#somepassword4867.
  • ·         Use different login password, and transaction password. Do not use the same password you use for your email accounts.
  • ·         Always go to your online bank website, by typing the name of your bank website, this will decrease the probability of getting the victim of phishing.
  • ·         Do not click on any link you retrieved on your email, which asked you to login to your bank account, they can be phishing email, which could steal your details and do wrong transactions.
  • ·         Do not use public computers, or avoid at most public computers for login or transactions on your online bank account unless those are related to most reliable source. Public computers some time could be configured to track your keys using any keylogger you enter and could steal your password.
  • ·         Use good web browsers and antivirus on your computer.

These were some smaller tips, which would help you out for your safer online banking.  If you have any suggestion, your comments are welcome.
