Tips to Get a Rail Ticket for Peak Seasons

In India Railway is a lifeline of people, for most of the journeys, it is a preferred medium of travelling and if journey is safe, planned and mannered, this is also very enjoyable as trains generally for long distances traverse via very beautiful natural places also. People of different location and cultures could be seen easily in any train of long distance. But for this there is proper planning is needed as train is the most preferred medium of travelling here and also cheap.

But due to these things, it is very hard to get your reservation for long distances some time and mostly it is like to win the Everest in peak seasons. People who are working far from their home prefer to go their home in festive seasons and this is a very big problem here to get reservation during this period and air tickets become so costly due to this, even 5, 6 times higher than the normal rates. So this becomes impossible some time to travel as trains are full of people and with out reservation a journey is like a hell. And when you have reservation it is like having a lottery ticket with winning number. There are many agents around you, who will ask you to get you a reservation against a high charge (some time even multiple times of the ticket value), but mostly in festive season you will have to be disappointed.

I am also a victim of this but I try to improve the state of my problems and would like to share some tips here. If you follow them, you will not be in trouble or at least you can avoid them.

• ·         In Indian railways you can get your reservation 120 days earlier and keep this in mind , this is the key. If you need to go home or somewhere in festive season you must get your reservation either by online or offline mode. For this note the time earlier and on the same day get the reservation. This slight inconvenience will help you a lot during the real time.
• ·         Get multiple reservation and when the actual date arrives, you can get them cancelled if you are not hundred percent sure about your journey. You can cancel them later and a small amount will be deducted while refund. This is really very small if you compare this with your travel agent fee with no guarantee at peak time and also the uncertainty you bear.
• ·         If you missed to get the reservation during the start. Get the reservation for odd days in lower waiting; there are chances of confirmation of that reservation.
• ·         You can trust on your travel agent for reservation, but trust more on you, if you have time, plan this for you and get it. This will save a lot of time of yours later. You will see that every agent will tell you that he will get you a reservation by any quota, but think quotas are limited and every agent is trying to get this. So in peak days, whoever agent gets this, earns money and rest says only sorry to their clients.
• ·         If you are looking for Tatkal ticket. Get up early and note down everything on paper, what you want and type it fast exactly at 10 o clock or whatever the current Tatkal reservation start time. Be sure that for longer distances, you will not get second chance to get a reservation. If you are looking for a offline ticket you need to go and join a queue before the Tatkal ticket time. In the morning it is like a race of horse. Lol.

By following the above tips there are definitely chances that you will not be in trouble, but exceptions are there. You need to follow the best you think could be.
